Misstress Barbara, Charlotte de Witte and so much more this September at Piknic Électronik

Summer is far from being over at Piknic Électronik, as September will be the busiest month of its 16th season with seven unique events, which start in style this long-weekend with a triple Piknic celebrating the MEG Montréal festival’s 20th anniversary. Starting Saturday through September 30th, come dance in the “back to school” season and enjoy the best days of September at la Plaine des jeux with some of our most anticipated headliners of 2018. Here’s this month’s generous menu with everything you need to fill up on sunny vibes before autumn starts.


September 1st, 2nd and 3rd: Piknic Weekend x MEG Mtl

It’s MEG‘s 20th anniversary and to live it up in style, Piknic Électronik is joining this popular festival to present three days of fantastic music this Labour Day long weekend. At la Plaine des jeux, the celebrations start this Saturday September 1st with the UK’s Quantic who promises a set that will bubble like champagne for this special occasion. Also along for the ride, Wasa Bibi, Sugarface Bell Flo and Tupi Collective, who’ll showcase Montreal’s finest.

The party will roll on the very next day, Sunday September 2nd, as the incomparable Misstress Barbara makes her annual pilgrimage to Park Jean-Drapeau. She’ll serenade us with her very best selections over the course of a 4 hour set at the Solotech stage, after a scene-setting opening by Mike Larry.

Meanwhile, the Moog Audio stage will rock out to Qualité De Luxe‘s sumptuous mix of Afrohouse and international sounds courtesy of Savanéy, Tignasse and Montreal icon Poirier, who’ll deliver his master’s touch.

Save your strength for Monday September 3rd‘s star studded line up however, as the highly anticipated Belgian superstar Charlotte De Witte will be headliningthis 3rd day of MEG‘s 20th anniversary festivities at the Solotech stage with her percussive and energetic sound. Ahead of this, we’ll hear the deep house sounds of Head Nodders, followed by the underground grooves of Enfants Malins.

The Moog Audio stage will be just as energetic, as Carte Blanche invites J’vlvn d’Ark to open the day with her spicy vision of house before French artist Da’Gil, organizer of Brittany’s Astropolis festival, goes back to back with Montreal’s own Phil Fiction.

Piknic # 18 (September 9th)

We’ve got an exceptional international program at the Solotech Stage asAmerica’s Danny Daze takes us on a journey through today’s latest and greatest sounds, right after the unique styles of rising Irish star Or:la. Plus, it all begins with the breakbeat house flavours of Toronto’s Ciel.

At the Moog Audio stage, Montreal online radio station N10.AS,which shines a light on our local talent, will present Juju Le Moko‘s adventurous club sounds, Flip Liquid‘s expert crate digging, and DJ Sportswear‘s avant-guard beats.

Piknic # 19 (September 16th)

It’s a bubbly, smiley, techno kind of day at the Solotech stage this week, as we welcome Brazilian luminary Gui Boratto in the headlining spot for a soulful adventure that’ll have us swooning in the sunset. Arrive early to catch our very own Zepha‘s deep sounds, followed by Mike Laz.

Meanwhile, House and Hip Hop lovers will find their fill at the Moog Audio stage thanks to Charles Cozy’s booming beats, Shaydakiss‘ wildstyle selection borrowing in equal measure from rap and dance music, and Planet Giza‘s contemporary interpretation of classic soul grooves.

Piknic # 20 (September 23rd)

It’s a big day for fans of Detroit icons, as we welcome the legendary Omar S in the headlining spot at the Solotech stage to share his city’s musical heritage. Ahead of this, English phenomenon Chaos in the CBD rolls through with soulful vibes and our own Lis Dalton will begin the day on a deep house tip.

The Moog Audio stage will begin with the sounds of Ēmikkē‘s bumping tech house before Bunzinelli keeps things moving on a clicky, electronic tip. Finally, we’ll all dance to the sounds of Akufen, as this Montreal mainstay delivers the twitchy grooves we all know and love.

Piknic # 21 (September 30th)

For this 16th Piknic Électronik season’s grand finale, we’re inviting Germany’s one and only Henrik Schwarz, a true legend and verteran, to deliver a live performance – get ready for a world class musical clinic! And there’s no one better than our very own Nymra & Sofisticated and Anti-Anti to open this special day with some subterranean vibes.

At the Moog Audio stage, we’ll be hosting our world famous finale featuring the Piknic allstars! Who’s on the lineup? Why Monsieurlouis, followed by Los Renardos, Remix Angelil, Alix and finally Puddimaster. Big fun in the sun and fantastic beats, as always!
